Had a long layover in FLL, so naturally I decided to get some tacos. Met two guys at the bar who claimed to be Kenny Chesney's off-tour staff, in town for the Tortuga Music Festival. Whether or not they were telling the truth I don't know, but they bought shots and my dinner so whatevs.
Fort Lauderdale, FL
Finally got my first real trip! A 5-day that spans Fort Lauderdale, Aruba, Denver, Boston, and Dallas. Would've loved to have gotten stuck in Aruba for the day (preferably with a mojito instead of water), but no such luck.
Southernmost Point Buoy in Key West, FL
Key West has always floated around on my "must go" list, and the stars finally aligned for me to take a road trip there. It ended up raining most of the time, but stopped just long enough for me to see the sunrise at the "southernmost point of the continental US" (jury's still out on that one) and also grab a bangin' vanilla Cuban coffee.
Florida Keys Brewing Co. in Islamorada, FL
Perks of being a flight attendant: enough days off in a row for a mini road trip. Spent a day in the Keys kayaking Islamorada until a storm rolled in and had a beer at Florida Keys Brewing Co.
Holy Grain Coffee Shop in Orlando, FL
The chalkboard art says it all! Officially set off on my mission to visit as many coffee shops, tea houses, and breweries as possible in my new central Florida base. Any recommendations?
Aero Rooftop Bar in Orlando, FL
"Come to this rooftop bar!" my friend said. "There's live music!" she said. What it really was: a DJ playing a ton of songs I didn't know, but thanks to this rum bucket I had a good time and even learned some new dance moves.
Sofia's in Margate, NJ
Searched far and wide for a good happy hour with Alexis. We both wanted to try somewhere new, and ended up drinking these "blood orange" martinis at Sofia's. Let me tell you, their bartenders did NOT skimp on the alcohol content.
Wingcraft in Atlantic City, NJ
My first official trip as a flight attendant was a huge tease. Flew down to Orlando from my hometown of Atlantic City to start my duty period. Received a call informing me that I was starting a 5-day trip. Sweet! Checked the schedule to see which exotic places I was off to, only to find that they were sending me right back to ACY to sit on call for 5 days… Took a few of the flight attendants who were lucky enough to get the same trip to @wingcraftac, and ogled over their beer selection while drinking an iced tea (in case I got called to fly). Of course I didn't get called to fly so I could've totally had a beer or seven, but alas...
AC Beer Fest 2019 in Atlantic City, NJ
My belated AC Beer Fest photo roundup is a little short this year because I was too busy drinking all of the beer and jamming to The Used. However, the best part of this year's festival was this alarmingly adorable service dog.
Hot Diggity Dogs in Fort Lauderdale, FL
Overheard someone talking about hot dogs and knew my soul wouldn't be happy until I had a proper hot dog. This old-fashioned, cash only stand has a 5-star rating (not bad for having over 400 reviews, eh?) and absolutely satisfied my craving.
American Icon Brewery in Fort Lauderdale, FL
Is it tasteless or fitting that a Jim Morrison mural is painted on a wall attached to a brewery?
Invasive Species Brewing in Fort Lauderdale, FL
Really enjoyed exploring the Fort Lauderdale area over the past month. And by exploring the area I mean visiting every brewery that time permitted.
