Overheard someone talking about hot dogs and knew my soul wouldn't be happy until I had a proper hot dog. This old-fashioned, cash only stand has a 5-star rating (not bad for having over 400 reviews, eh?) and absolutely satisfied my craving.

Okay fine Dry January lasted all of 7 days but my friends were in town and I couldn't pass up on a rare night out with the crew.

Getting warmer on the search for good food in Florida. Mash’d was a step up from everything else so far — you can rest assured I'll keep you in the loop. Hey, at least the liquor hasn't let me down.

Not sure if my standards are too high, if I'm visiting the wrong restaurants, or Florida just hasn't found its cuisine niche yet, but I've yet to be really blown away by anything here. However, this mango jalapeño mojito was fantastic, and Padrino’s is def the best food I've had here so far.

Had a long layover in FLL, so naturally I decided to get some tacos. Met two guys at the bar who claimed to be Kenny Chesney's off-tour staff, in town for the Tortuga Music Festival. Whether or not they were telling the truth I don't know, but they bought shots and my dinner so whatevs.

Fell victim to another tourist (crab) trap... ba-dum-tsssss. Was craving seafood and this definitely did the trick. However, everyone bangs the table with hammers when a birthday is announced and apparently it was everyone's birthday. This nice pale ale from a local micro (or nano?) brewer got me through it.

The hardest part about not being a local is trying to separate the actually good places from the tourist traps. Our first night out on the town landed us right in a few of those tourists traps — but at least margaritas and a live band were involved.

All hail Lord Hobo 🙌 The first time I tried a Lord Hobo IPA it was so good my friend tried to take home full kegs of it. I can't say I blame him.
